Making order out of chaos has been the goal of my life and work as an artist. My latest efforts, now that I am an octogenarian, are still the same.Trying to express the wonder and complexity of a long rich life is the challenge. My work has become increasingly dimensional as the years pass. Perhaps it is the urgency to capture it more deeply and spiritually. Moving from large paintings with images within images to collage and assemblage has pretty much been my course with no cessation of continued exploration.
Using found objects that have been discarded or are no longer useful can be given new life and can be metaphors for a lifetime.
I assemble objects in boxes that tell my story, deliver my sense of visual order or are remembrances of life experiences and sensations. I use found objects paint, glue. modeling paste, paper, wood, plant life etc. etc. to compose a new order and accomplish my goal.
The search for new media, modes for expression continues until when?
